After having spent well over a decade in the media and advertising business, working with some of the leading agencies including Publicis Media, Cartrade.com, Madhouse, Automotive Exchange and other organizations like Yahoo India, Tribal DDB India and Mindshare, Moorthy landed the job of head-RDX sales and trading desk at iCubesWire, Mumbai.

Moorthy chronicles his experience for us saying that, “Irrespective of the experience, profile, designation, first day at a workplace is always accompanied by a sense of excitement, clubbed with a certain ounce of nervousness.” Let’s delve in deeper and see how his maiden week unfolded…

A Warm Welcome

I remember entering the office with the same set of thoughts. Giving wings to my hope, I was given a warm welcome by my fellow colleagues who stood up to clap for me with smiling faces and excited eyes. It was a small yet sweet gesture which made me comfortable at once. I was informed that Aditya Singh, chief operating officer and Devinder Sharma, chief growth officer had flown down from Gurgaon to extend their helping hand and acquaint me with insights into iCubesWire. To add to the gestures, I was gifted a welcome kit that made me feel like a pampered child whose needs were all being taken care of.

Decoding the iCubesWire Team

The week went by in a blink of an eye and the following week, the Mumbai team was invited to the head office in Gurgaon. On Monday, I again had butterflies in my stomach upon entering the head office in Gurgaon. Honestly speaking, I was expecting a warm welcome here as well (okay! Don’t call me greedy now!). Exceeding my expectations, the introduction here was extremely interactive and amiable. A round of introductions acquainted me to a team of vibrant, young, energetic bunch of people who bring freshness to the organization. Each person had their own perspective and while being different from one another, they respected everyone’s views. Though of course, a little leg-pulling never harmed anyone.

No ‘Horrible Bosses’ Here

As the day passed by, I was in awe of the bosses here. The highly approachable nature of each one of them was immensely admirable. Any employee could walk up to them for help and guidance and be sure to return with a guaranteed solution. What a great way to let the knowledge & creativity flow through the subtle pyramid of hierarchy!

After interacting with so many and being an iCubian for a week, I am assured of one thing. There is going to be lots of work, deadlines waiting to be met, pressure building up in our heads but there is still going to be a healthy fun environment enveloping the entire organization. With little moments of celebrations, friendly gossip around the corner and jokes being laughed at, work will always be cherished here as I see my colleagues finishing off their daily tasks with a smile of contentment and a sense of achievement! I am elated to have joined the happy family at iCubesWire!
